Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
