Rob Edwards as well as O'Neil Included in Wolverhampton Wanderers Head Coach Contenders

Rob Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday after the team's 10-match winless beginning to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic associations to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton manager - who played over a century of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a strong contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the club directors as they begin the search of appointing a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a shock appointment given he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham player is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
